Days filled with fun rides, best friends, and life-long memories are what camps are made of! Take the right steps to stay safe, properly dressed, and prepared to ride and take part in other horse care activities.
School may be out, but riding is in!
Before you head off to camp, we’ve put together a packing checklist, tips, and must-haves that will help you prepare for all your equine adventures.
Riding Gear
Be prepared with helmets, apparel, and footwear for your riding activities, along with stable attire for other workshops.
- ▢ Helmet
- ▢ Breeches
- ▢ Boots
- ▢ Gloves
- ▢ T-shirts
- ▢ Socks
- ▢ Non-riding clothes
TIP: Select an outfit for each day and pack it in a zip-lock plastic bag. Mark the bag with the day it should be worn. Plus, the bags are great for wet swimsuits when coming home!
Outdoor Necessities
No matter the weather, always protect yourself from sun, rain, and bugs!
- ▢ Sunblock
- ▢ Bug repellent
- ▢ Water bottle
- ▢ Waterproof rain gear
TIP: Travel-size sunscreen and bug sprays are perfect for going swimming or on a trail!
Personal Items
Don’t forget the comforts of home. Bedding, towels, and everyday items are must-haves for camp!
- ▢ Shampoo and soap
- ▢ Towel
- ▢ Toothbrush and toothpaste
- ▢ Medications (if any)
- ▢ Bedding (sleeping bag, sheets, pillow, etc.)
TIP: Roll your pillow inside the sleeping bag to help it stay clean, and pack any bottles in zip-lock plastic bags.
Extras
Should your camp not allow smartphones, tablets, games, or similar electronic devices, here are some other options.
- ▢ Camera
- ▢ Books/magazines
- ▢ Puzzle books
- ▢ Journal/diary
- ▢ Horse treats
TIP: Pack smart and light. Write your name in permanent marker on all your belongings so they won’t get mixed up with somebody else’s.
